Book Review :- TANTRA

I love vampire stories.
The craze for the super natural started from Harry Potter moved on to Twilight and has now come to "Tantra", our very own desi version of vampires!!

Overview of the book :-

Anu is a leather wearing, no-nonsense professional guardian with a reputation for killing the most dangerous vampires in New York City. But when her enemies murder the one person she truly cared about, all she wants is vengeance. The only clue points to New Delhi, so Anu puts in for a job transfer.

In India, she finds more than she expected. For one thing, her fellow operatives have made a truce with the vampires. For another, it’s way too hot to wear leather.

At first, it seems Anu’s biggest challenge will be evading the nice boys her aunt wants her to marry. But when children start disappearing, she discovers forces older and darker than anything she’s faced before. All of Delhi is in danger, especially the sexy stranger who sets Anu’s pulse racing.

To prepare for the coming battle, Anu must overcome her personal demons and put aside years of training. This time, her most powerful weapon will come from her mind, not her weapons belt.

My take on it :-

This is my first book review and I am so happy I got this book.

It is a light, must-read book. Anu, who is the heroine is a professional vampire killer. She takes a transfer from New York and heads to New Delhi to search for a vampire who killed the love of her life. But Delhi has a lot of surprises!! It takes her a lot of time to understand the system, to believe that the other members of his group have actually befriended the vampires and have mutually decided rules. On the personal front, she has to shift from the oh-so-chic girl to a "Delhi girl" who needs to wear the conventional Punjab suit.

Anu is a perfect blend of the typical 21st century girl ,if you keep apart the vampire killing. She has a will of her own and knows what she needs from her life. Her character is beautifully portrayed. The oh-so-over-friendly Amit, who is apparently another guardian and the only one in Delhi,Chandra, the stick-to-my-rules head of the vampire clan in Delhi, Anu's aunt who is adamant on her getting married ,Gaurav who is in love with Anu, Baba Senaka the powerful villian,Dr Sharma who teaches Anu how to fight the evil forces- every character is perfectly woven in the track.

The movie gently twists from Anu's professional life to her personal life as her aunt looks for a "PERFECT" match for her. She has to juggle between her career and life but then it aint that simple -

Then begins the rain of surprises...
Its not just vampires... there are old and dark forces that make Anu beat her own fears and fight, fight to save the world from the bad-guy tantric Baba Senaka. The narratives are good and I dint feel like keeping the book down.I loved reading the fight sequences, the flying shifts and the knives!!

Get your hands on it people!!
Light and nice, just the perfect blend!

Cheers Adi... I am waiting for the sequel, I really wanna know what happened to Brian's killer and Chandra and the romance kindling between Anu-Gaurav , Smiti-Amit..

Waiting....

The awesomeness called the "HALF FRIED"...

Put on the gas,
Place a pan on it,
Apply butter on the pan.
Take an egg,
Wash it nicely *Go on,Roll your eyes, I wash eggs before using and yes I know, that we don't eat the shell*
Pick up the spoon,
Make a slight crack , right in the mid of the egg,
And slowly and nicely, pour the contents on the pan, paying special attention not to break the inner yellow epicenter...
Gently sprinke salt and pepper...
Viola!!! a perfect half fried egg is ready to be relished!!
I am already feeling hungry :)

Such a miracle it is, yummy, gets cooked in 2 minutes(beats our dear friend maggi!!) , is healthy and filling too...........
I am loving it !
Do you??

$$ Richie Rich $$

Let's calculate :-

I spent around Rs 500/- to join a library which rented me two books at a time. Then I pay a monthly amount of Rs 250/- which is non refundable. Now the prices have increased multi fold... yes you read it right, not just doubled or tripled... but more than that! huh!! What are they thinking *rolls eyes*

So, now I have planned to buy books for myself.. Tan tana....

So, if I spend 500 bucks a month on buying books, I end up buying 1/2/3 books..

And depending on the number of pages, I end up reading them in a month or a month and half...

Given this pace and given the fact that I have sponsors (yeah!! two sweethearts who have agreed to sponsor my books.. love you both!! *with obvious terms and conditions apply*) can you guess how many books I will have by the next year.............. whopieeee

That makes me Miss Richie Rich.... $$$$$$$$

I just hope I can keep up my pace :)

Let pictures do the talking...

And this is what happens... when you have a budding photographer as your brother... and he has time for everybody and everything else but you... And he tries to run away in between what you think is a "bhai-behen" photo shoot and the camera is on continuous click mode...

The awesome feeling called "love"...

I am smitten...
You know that awesome feeling that make you super happy.. yes I am feeling just that.. and it's been a while now that I am feeling it...

Earlier I had this subscription of a library and really relished, digested the books I rented, but then the monthly charges increased exponentially over night, only to make me frown..
Later I realized , I can afford buying books rather than renting them.. and that's exactly what I have been doing over the last three months.. and lemme tell you... its aweome!!
Its awesome to have your own books...
Its awesome to smell the new books and look at all the books you own :)
Wowieee.... I am all dreamy eyed... and often find myself hugging my books.. hehehe
They make me feel so happy and they are all mineeeeeeeeeeeeee...........
Yeee... Its awesome to be in love with your OWN "books"...

Yeeeee........

So, my project finally ended... After a slow torture of a year and 8 months... phew....
So, today I am sitting in office, with my favourite songs playing out loud and I have absolutely nothing else to do.... yeeeeeeeeeee
Last week kept me very busy with closure activities and as my darling Murphy quoted, everything just went wrong.... The deployed code did not work on the client's machine, no matter what I did!! Additionally , I was told to join another project (which has even longer working hours!! They work on weekends too) It was a medley and for once I stood strong and said a perfect "NO" to join that project. I hope I dont relent.. So, when my peers were after me to join this project and had contradictions to all the reasons I gave them, today they din't even bother to talk to me... hehhe!! I dont know how to digest this, but can't people be courteous enough to tell the decisions they take... or atleast be professional.. anyways..
"The Oath of Vayuputras" is an interesting read, I am still mid way but don't know why it doesn't seem as interesting as the previous books of the triology... Now with a lot of time in my kitty (till I get another project), I'll finish this one quickly and move on to the others..

How are you doing people??

Updates.. updates

Whoooo........... its been a whirl wind... had so much on my plate.. mixed platter rather! So, here are the updates :-

I was down with fever... huh!! fever when it is already so hot outside :( Fever, head ache, stomach ache, upset tummy, nausea, vomiting... in short all-in-one... band baji hui hai :( I have really not been working since the last week in office... The medicines almost doubled my troubles, though the tummy is much better I have been sleeping for like 5 hours each time I take my medicines.. And all I have been eating for three days is dal khichdi... I am a fan of dal khichdi, provided I am not ill.. huh!! Much better now :)

So when the fever subsided and the medicine dose was over, we went shoppingg.... WHooooooooooo... and I came home with so many shopping bags, two nice tops, two punjabi suits, a nicey pair of red chappals... Don't remember the last time I shopped for so much in a go.... All thanks to SS,AS and DM :)

After the shopping spree, we had an awesome three course meal!! It was the most awesome meal especially after the dal khichdi days.. We went to "The Mirage". AS had this awesome coupon, which gave us a flat 60% off on the food!! Awesome food at 60% off plus four food lovers with empty tummys is a deadly combination, I tell you. The soup was awesome - we had tomato soup and manchow :) The paneer sholay we had for starters was tasty and so was the chicken starter I guess!! The guys were licking their fingers! In main course, we ordered the all famous dal makhni and oh boy!! It was so yummmmm... And then we had chocolate brownies... two of them..... wowie!!! Food.... :)

My money plant finally bore a new baby leaf... It is teeny weeny and so cute :) I had almost lost all hope that it would ever ever bear any new leaves.. NS of momofrs fame (yes!! the awesome mommy of twins is my colleague and we have shared cube space, all thanks to her I started writing :)) bought three money plants to office and I gleefully took one of them from her... yeeee NS.... our money plants blossomed... lets hope our salaries do too ;)

I painted...
A tiger, which is looking like a cat, big deal!! It still resembles the feline family
A peaceful swan which K rudely said was my worst painting till date... huh!!

I bought books...
So many of them in a go.... Oath of Vayuputras, French Lover, The Krishna Key, The Secret Wish List..
"The Wimpy kid's diary" set of six is on its way inmy kitty.... and "The Krishna Corolis" is next in line... I am loving it.... :)

Beachhh......
Ma, K and I escaped to "Kihim" beach for a silent and peaceful weekend. Bliss!! Pre-booked the bus, though the journey was too tiring, it was all worth it. The ride was bumpy and it was very hot.. But once we reached the beach... what fun, I tell you!! We ordered veg and non veg thalis, one each. The food was very very tasty... I ended up eating so much.... Went to the beach in late afternoon, the low tide kept the waves really small, but it was fun... we had a buggy ride and instead of a two-way we told him to drop us far away ... walked back on the beach... had awesome omlette and maggi on the beach and spent most of the night chatting and singing under the stars ... Next morning brought a hide tide, got soaked in the cold water.. Wowie... it was so much of fun... Perfect weekend :)

Movies....
Bridget Jone's Diary, Devil wears Prada,Eat Pray Love, Inkaar, Kai po che,Murder 3, Jism 2,Table no 21, Khiladi 786, Son of Sardar... all thanks to the broad band connection and my genius brother who loves downloading movies :)
So what's up with you guys ?????
